Queen Elizabeth House

I had a peaceful morning, after a bit of a lie in, planting herb seeds, chives and basil.  A Christmas present.  Luckily Ann was out on one of her walks as I made a bit of a mess in the kitchen, though managed to clean up most of it before she returned.

After lunch we had to visit the Post office that had inconveniently closed over the holiday.  There was a very long queue, surely this only happens before Christmas?  Anyway we found a very useful do-it-yourself contraption, similar to self-service tills in supermarkets,  whereby you could weigh, fill in details, buy the required stamp and post without queuing for hours.  I'm not sure why other people were not using it.  After all that we needed coffee so we crossed the road and had a rest and a good cup of coffee at Cafe Bolero.

On the way home walking towards The Shambles we passed Queen Elizabeth House.  It was the first time I'd seen the place without road workers' paraphernalia leaning up against it so I took the opportunity to take a photo.

Info from t'net:
Timber frame and plaster house of c1570. It is named after a reputed visit by Queen Elizabeth I here in 1575, when she watched the sports from the gallery. NB: The building has been moved from its original site across the road.
