Common Nighthawk

For Mother's Day, my husband took me out on the boat to a couple of the barrier islands off the coast of Mississippi. Although sunny at home, on the islands it was overcast. I walked inland, which is usually too hot and buggy in the summer, and found at least a dozen nighthawks. They were calling and every so often go into a dive which produced a buzzy whooshing sound. I am working at getting birds in flight. This was my best ~still have work to do! :)
