Getting the sparkle back

Water!

On the Water of Leith. There was a lot of it coming over the cauld (weir), but it's controlled upstream at Threipmuir and Harlaw Reservoirs, so there's less likelihood of flooding downstream within Edinburgh which used to be a problem. We are supposed to be getting a lot of rain tomorrow which may cause flooding elsewhere.

T and I walked from Balerno to Slateford and got the bus back. It's the first part of the Water of Leith Walkway and is outside built-up Edinburgh, so you feel you are out in the country. Strong winds were forecast and I know that this is a good walk to do when it's windy as it's relatively sheltered and you don't have to walk back into the wind. In fact it wasn't all that windy, and there wasn't much rain so we were glad to have gone ahead with our plan and not chickened out. It was great to get some fresh air and exercise after having been inside for most of the last week. We met L with her two children walking the other way to us. The children were complaining about doing the walk but I assured them that they would feel the benefit of it. I wonder if they did.

There's an extra of Lexi doing some grooming on the cat tree, looking rather fetching IMHO with the Christmas lights behind her.
