Windfall (DS330)

First blip of a new year!  We took a walk around Upton House this afternoon, just to get out into the fresh air and came across these windfall apples in the orchard.  A few were ok for cooking, so we collected a bag-full,  but most were beginning to break down.   They are mostly left for the wildlife as there are fieldfares in the area over winter and they feed on them in cold periods.

I guess a large proportion will just decay and be returned to the soil as nutrient - so perhaps ok for derelict Sunday.

Thanks to Marlieske for hosting.
