‘Our New Year's Day Tradition’

MollyG and I had an early start to the New Year with the special New Year's Day parkrun at Portobello parkrun. (Our regular parkrun at Cramond does one on Christmas Day instead). We have done it for several years and have found it a very positive and rewarding way to start the new year.

It's in Figgate Park, a relatively unknown little gem of a park, created in 1938, with a burn running into a pond (a converted claypit and complete with a range of wildlife), and the parkrun involves three loops around the pond and up the river. Very different from running along the prom at Cramond!

With Christmas Day and New Year's Day falling on a Sunday this year, we had parkruns one day after another on two consecutive weekends. Four parkruns in eight days is a bit more of a challenge for us oldies - but we've done it now!
