MonoMonday: Old and New

Many thanks to Skeena who's hosting MM this month.

We had a trip to Tynemouth today as the weather was lovely and bright (but chilly!). So here you see part of Tynemouth Priory: it has a 2000 year history so should count as "old", although the current ruins "only" seem to date from about 1300.

To the left is a "new" building - although still a bit "old" as it's the coastguard station which has been unused for about 20 years. Apparently there's a suggestion that it could become a rehab centre for servicemen which would be good if it comes to pass.

After a sandwich lunch in Wood's cafe we walked along the beach to Cullercoats. The brave surfers were out in force so I was glad I had my long lens with me - the extra shows one of the surfers working on staying upright!
