Evening Star

On the Macclesfield  Canal tonight.
New Year walking tradition.
My father in law walked every New Year’s Day from Poynton to the Highwayman pub.Over time he accumulated several  companions and accompanying dogs. At onetime it was men only. They called at the Boar’s Head, and the Miners Arms, and tramped through Lyme Park. For a while the final pub was in Bollington.
He claimed it was to ensure the path was kept open.
We only went as far as the Boar’s Head and back today.  We remembered him there. Not New Years Day but  almost. A beautiful image - I thought so anyway.
