Arches

On our drive home from the High Country we stopped for a while in the historic town of Tenterfield. Its impressive Post Office was built in 1881 to a design by the NSW Colonial Architect's Office under James Barnet (Wikipedia). Barnet was born in Scotland in 1827 and came to Australia in 1854. He was appointed head of the Colonial Architect's Office in 1865 and held that position for 25 years. During that time his office designed many hundreds, perhaps close to one thousand, public buildings (more on Wikipedia).

I have previously blipped his courthouse in Inverell and lighthouses at Cape Byron and Tacking Point (Port Macquarie).
