Mixed tapas

Today, there was an 8-hour excursion. It started with a coffee at Café Mocca, a beer about half way towards Puerto del Carmen at La Delicatezza and a tapas lunch at El Cangrejo Rojo.  The tapas that PY and I shared was a small mixed tapas - which seemed to be a common dish at restaurants here that were overlooking the port. It was very nice - and great to be eating Spanish food after the Italian we have had for the past few nights - but the portions seemed a little tiny. Later, We took a walk round Puerto del Carmen and stopped at a local shopping centre that had a couple of fairground-style rides.

PY and I left the others as we’d decoded to walk back to complete the loop (and push the seven mile walk).  At one point I was desperate for the toilet and decided that I couldn’t walk all the way back so we stopped at one of the first pubs on the strip - Spoons - which I am sure is named to attract British holiday makers. We had a bio-break, and a beer, before making our way back. The walk is, more-or-less, all by the sea and it’s very relaxing to be by the water the whole time.

Our dinner this evening was much more local. Trattori Timbaya was a small restaurant which, I think, was picked because some of us wanted a paella - which was delicious.
