Songs of faith and devotion

Evening all

This is one of the many reasons I love books.

When you find a flyleaf with a dedication or notation inscribed.

They're like a time machine to the past, suddenly the people long gone, spring back into some sort of life and focus.

Who was this person? what was their life like? Where were they on their life's journey when they wrote this, were they full of hope, full of youth, full of vigour?

Or were they old, tired , damaged and loaded with the fear and foreboding that age and experience brings with it?

The best books , even if they are the worst written, most boring subject matter, all begin with a dedication of love or an acknowledgment of ownership,

memento Mori possibly,

or saying,

I was here , I was alive, it was enough .
