Burg Vischering

The final day of my holidays was spent with Peter in Germany, in the region Münsterland. The first photo-day  of the year.
Despite not so good weather predictions we decided to give it a go anyway, so there we were at 06.00 am on our way to Germany.

Peter had studied on some locations and found out there are quite a number of castles in the Münsterland region, just a two hour drive from home. Well, that needs some exploring. First on the agenda was Burg Vischering in Lüdinghausen. We arrived at the scene around 08.45 (by then we had had a nice breakfast-stop already, a combination of Kaiser-brotchen and a McDonalds Mcmuffin)

This first location was surprisingly beautiful, with very nice sunny weather too. The light was gorgeous. We sent our drones up, not knowing exactly if that was allowed, but nobody was near and all was very quiet. The few dog-walkers that passed by didn't mind.
We managed to capture a few nice images, if I might say so.

We then had a coffee with a huge Himbeer-pie in the café/restaurant. located in the orange-roof-building on the right in the photo.

The next castle was a 20 minutes ride up north. Nordkirchen Palace.
A huge castle, also called the Versailles of Münsterland. Beautiful, but not for our photography today. Drones were not allowed here, signs all over the place, and the light was very harsh and with a blue sky we decided to come back here some other day.

Next stop: Tecklenburg. I'd been here before in June 2022, so I knew some places and locations. By now the weather had turned grey and dull, so we headed into the woods. We climbed up to the Dreikaiserstuhl, and captured woodland and rock formations on our way there.

By the time we were back at the car, we were sliding into dusk already. Time to go back north. With a nice Schnitzel-dinner-stopover in Bad Bentheim, we arrived home safely at 19:00 hours.

Peter suggested to drop me off, 2 kilometers from home, so he could drive straight on and would be home a bit sooner, but luckily I was able to talk him out of that.  ;)

Another great day in the pocket!
