Whitethroat

... at least I think that's what it is. Only here a couple of days and already reminded of the struggle to identify warblers that comes inevitably with the spring migrants. After a big shop this morning to make sure we have enough supplies to last us for our stay here, we walked down to the sea. We'd dressed warmly so it was pleasant sitting on the shingle sea watching in the afternoon sunshine. This bird had laid claim to a territory on the Heath only a few hundred yards from the cottage and was still there when we returned a few hours later, so it may yet be featured again on a less blustery day. Meanwhile, down at the beach, we saw some sort of marine mammal breaching the waves - possibly a solitary dolphin. Apart from a few cormorants and an assortment of gulls, there was little else to see offshore. The forecast for tomorrow isn't great, but we'll probably make our way over to Minsmere., where, if it is wet and windy, we can at least take shelter in the hides.
