Of rich and royal hue..

After the farewells...

George got a grand send off today. The rain stayed off against all expectations until the mourners had left Longside cemetery for the funeral tea at the Football Club. The cemetery sits peacefully amongst the fields outside the village, a very fitting resting place for a man whose early years were spent as a farm servant, the "orra loon" who never lost his love for the land or farming, whose roots were Buchan through and through. I'm reminded of a verse by that great exponent of the Doric, J. C. Milne

O Lord look doon on Buchan
An a' its fairmer chiels!
For there's nae in a' Yer warld
Mair contermashious deils!

Rest in peace Doddles, we'll miss you.
