Prop

Every few years the washing line prop breaks and I go down to the woods with a saw to cut a new one. It's not of itself an onerous chore but the wood is on a steep gradient and the ground was covered with dead leaves made slippery by the rain.

(I wonder how many people do this?)

The rain continues day after day but still we hang the washing out if only to bring it in again half dry and hang it on the kitchen laundry rack.

I remembered an old blip of my mother hanging out washing but whether she had a clothes prop or not I have no idea.
