Romance

Walking through the park this afternoon when a party of seven or eight rooks come a cawing into the tree I’m walking beneath. It’s too early for them to roost for the evening, and it’s not one of the tall trees that traditionally houses the rookeries.

They landed in a rustle of wings with much excitement. There’s a chorus of caws and this amazing chirruping ting, like a hammer hitting an anvil. After a few minutes of singing and displaying, they were off again back out to the taller trees that ring the park. Awesome :)
