Before meeting Flumgummery and her husband this afternoon we went up Calton Hill and admired the extensive views in all directions. This one might be familiar to those who watch BBC television news as often a similar view is used as a backdrop when comments are made about Scottish news or affairs on national TV.   Beyond the Dugald Stewart Monument  is a view along Princes Street with the clock tower of the Balmoral Hotel and the Scott Monument in Princes Street and Edinburgh Castle on its rock in the background.  A recent addition to the view is the W Hotel more commonly called “The Turd” with its spiral ribbon top.
