Gate problem

We have double gates on the drive that have been in place for 10 years plus. We've had problems with them over the last few years but with Covid about have not bothered getting anyone in.
Today Barney (who lives up the road) came to sort them out. Well he tighten bolts and loosened bolts and he screwed in screws that were insecure and he used his sprit level and some WD40 but, no matter what he did the gates would not close nicely together.
In the end he decided the post holding this gate had twisted over time. It seemed rock solid but it is visibly not in line. I did not want him to dig the post out (it is sound wood and solidly in the ground) so he has gone away to think about new brackets.
He admitted that he had not expected the job to be this difficult, he was with me simply because he had a small hole in his schedule. So not sure when he will reappear. But we are no worse of than before and I have not paid him so nothing lost and, on the plus side, I got a blip out of it.
