Japan - Day 3: Nikko

I took the bullet train to Nikko for the day, a World Heritage site of shrines and temples surrounded by a cedar forest. I was pretty underwhelmed by the site, the Conference League of shrines if you like. Nevertheless, it was a good day out.

Today's blip is of ema, which are small wooden plaques on which Shinto worshippers write their prayers or wishes. The ema are then left hanging up at the shrine, where the kami (spirits or gods) receive them.

I am wished for a decent night's sleep. Scenes from 'Lost in Translation' come to mind!
