Cushioning the blow

Mr. Beewatcher produced a third beautiful velvety cushion today, my favourite one yet.
Just as well, as I’m sorry to say that it’s dark before four o’clock, and spring seems such a long way off. Even worse, this is the time of year when the neighbourhood at night is alive, not to the sound of music, but to the sound of foxes barking and shrieking as they search for a mate. Which keeps me awake, worrying a) that they’re starving and b) that they’ll probably be alone for ever.
It’s great having a vivid imagination.
