Stuff and Nonsense

Kestrel #6 - I've been spotted!

A perfectly timed walk at Pennington Flash this morning, although there were a couple of areas we couldn't access, one of them being the Teal hide as both access routes required knee high wellies I suspect (see extras).
With hubby in trainers, it was obvious that we couldn't get through without wet feet, which was a bit frustrating as I'd hoped to add Goosanders to my annual list. Never mind though, we managed 5 new birds to bring our total to 74 which we are quite pleased with.
The Bunting hide was also under water which is where the feeders are, so within the day, there will be no food left anywhere unless someone with wellies will fill them up. The rain has just been relentless - it started again at about noon and hasn't stopped since. And the wind is getting up as well, so it's quite nasty out there.

Today's blip is a kestrel which had landed in this tree, but as we crept closer, he turned around and saw us and was off in a flash. This is still from quite a distance, but heavily cropped.
