One daze at a time...

TIA (not as in Tia Maria...)

Pepe gave us a bit of a fright, and hopefully gave himself even more of a fright.
It looks like the bill for the traditional Irish Christmas (half a day of praying, a solid month of drinking and overeating) was delivered last night. He was at his brother-in-law when he started slurring his words (without the consumption of wine usually associated with the slurring) and he was a bit confused and not firing on all cylinders.
He spent the night in the ED in the Other-Repair-Factory. They were thorough and did a battery of tests and scans, even though the place looks like a war zone.
I got to see him for a few minutes today, to drop a charger and charging cables and have a quick chat (his elocution is still not 100% but a night with no sleep doesn't usually help). His elderly neighbour just behind the cubicle curtain was in a bad way with substantial bleeding from his abdomen and an elderly lady was breathing her last breaths just a few meters from there (two of her relatives had thankfully just arrived, to be with her at the end).
Not long after I visited him he was transferred to Loughlinstown for further test but the docs were quite optimistic after their early examinations and the diagnostic imaging is not alarming.
It looks like Pepe just got a very timely wake up call.
The doctor's prescription is easy to guess: diet and exercise. Less Vacqueyras, more Adidas.
