Nine down

Having got soaked this morning just leaving the house ( we are on our third straight day of virtually constant rain & wind with more than 30mm in each 24 hour period) it was good to see at least a glimpse of brightness in Dunoon.

Less heartening was the clear sign of a growing commercial crisis for the town. I counted six empty or about to be empty shops just in the central part of Argyll Street to add to the three that were once in the gap site created by a fire eighteen months ago.

There will be lots of reasons for the exodus ( the pandemic, the economic challenges of the cost of living crisis and more ) but some urgent action is needed from the Council to address this and to at least diminish it’s visual impact before the summer visitors arrive.
