Grey Day

It's been a very grey day today. Overcast and raining most of the day with a brisk SW wind which at least meant it wasn't too cold. I decided to put on my wellies and go out with the dog just before dark and had a paddle more than a walk. We have predominantly clay soil here so it's waterlogged and slippery over the fields, but it felt good to blow the cobwebs away.
I was looking for some colour but couldn't find much, then spotted these oak galls on an oak in the hedge. I find them fascinating things, they're used both in herbal medicine and to make ink historically. I decided to leave them where they are and just take the photo today
