Down the wabbit Hole?

It had to be Orchid(s).  When t'other two do Orchids, that little fearless Robin doesn't stand a chance of a look in.

Jerra and I, having been to one before, fancied a trip down to Beetham Nursery for their Orchid day; their last was a weekend.

Due to poor publicity, the start time of the lecture we'd hoped to attend wasn't given.  In consequence we were stuck with an hour to waste/spend before it started - SO - by mutual consent we gave it a miss; there's only so much time you can waste in a garden centre.

I sometimes wonder - "What constitutes an Orchid?"  It matters not, one tittle or jot what shape it is.
On a whim I looked up "Morphology"
"1. A branch of biology that deals with the form and structure of animals and plants.
2. A study and description of word formation (such as inflection, derivation, and compounding) in language."

There's obviously more to it than mere shape? It doesn't matter whether you're common & refer to "Moth Orchids" or "Pansy Orchids" OR come over all posh and call them Phalaenopsis and Miltonia - there's a tendency for them to be kind of 5+1 = flower; a "ring" of five, often 2+2+1, with a "tongue" sticking forrard  -  THEN - you go on an Orchid day and see these.

Outer - What most see as Orchid shaped, even if not Moth/Pansy shaped.
Inner -  Some of the "weirdos" we experienced at Beetham.

NO Orchids were harmed making this collection.
AND - I made history by not buying even a tiny one.
