Sgor Gaoith

Had a day in Glen Feshie in the Cairngorms today with C. Did Sgor Gaoith in true winter conditions. Snow conditions varied considerably, from fluffy powder to compact to icy.  Hard work in some places, often sinking over our ankles, but it felt like real winter. C missed her skis! Her thermometer read -6 C, but a little wind, probably about 10 mph, would have contributed a wind chill factor to bring that down to -12 C.  My fingers and toes got cold when we stopped for lunch and it took 20 minutes of walking to warm then up again, but then my hands were nice and  toasty in my good old Dachstein mits.

Mist on the top couple of hundred feet of the ascent made for poor visibility on the summit. We could make out some spectacular cornices, but we kept well away from them in view of the poor visibility.

The blip is looking west over the glen from about two thirds of the way up.
