Colder yet otter!

A sunny but very cold morning,  my car had a light dusting of snow frozen onto the windscreen.  I drove over to RSPB Leighton Moss and headed for the Causeway Hide.  Knowing that there was likely to be flooding I had taken welly boots and they were indeed necessary as there was a depth of about 4 inches of water over the track.
After a while I noticed a distant otter occasionally surfacing out in the water while fishing.  It gradually came closer to the hide and then came ashore in a cut section of reeds and ate what looked like an eel.  It was lovely to get such a clear view.  It then took a run at a group of four snipe, which all flew off in a great panic (extra), before returning to the water and disappearing again.
