Redpoll

So, there's been this little character hopping round beneath the bird feeders in the back garden, these past couple of days. We don't usually get anything more exotic than a great tit (unless you count the family of ring-necked doves that live around these parts), so initially I just thought it was a somewhat short-legged sparrow. However the beak, size and colouration, suggest it's a female lesser redpoll.
