Speculating Rooks

Although they are sitting in an ash tree these rooks reminded me of the Edward Thomas poem 'Thaw'.

' Over the land flecked with snow half-thawed
The speculating rooks cawed
And saw from the elm-tops, delicate as flowers of grass,
What we below could not see, Winter pass'.
