Snow in the distance!

Today after the kids had been dropped to school, we met my friend and headed out to the Peak District for a hike, part of my training plan so one thing ticked off this week!

I’d found a new route that was supposed to take us up and out of Padley Gorge and onto Curbar Edge and then to Froggat edge, before returning to Grindleford.

We set off chatting away, with cloudy cold weather, as we created the first hill he threatened snow, which became much heavier as we preceded. Though cold the snow was beautiful to walk in making the area look like something from and Xmas card! As we got to our half way point we found we couldn’t cross the stream as it was following to fast and it looked quite deep, so we thought we had best play it safe and turn back!

By the time we finished as seen in this picture the sun was shining and the snow looked like icing sugar gently covering the hills!

We made it back with plenty of time to spare, for the boys and then headed home where I baked an Angel food cake for pudding. It required 10 egg whites so I have used the yolks to batch up some icecream much to the boys delight!

Glad to have had a good adventure to start the week, before work takes over!
