Why I went to Glewstone

Couple of days ago I blipped about travelling the few miles from Gloucester to Glewstone, near Ross-on-Wye, to pick something up.
That something was two table lamps, they are in lovely condition but quite old fashioned.
Marlane currently has a thing for Orange and they already had the most lovely orange shades, but painting the bases orange would be taking it a bit too far.
She had a think and off we went to Homebase to look at specialist spray paints. We are getting to be a dab hand at spray painting, if you are careful you can get a lovely finish.
So we finished up deciding on a 'Rustoleum' cream, high gloss.
Set up a box in the garage, to minimise paint dust distribution, covered the Harley in painting sheets just in case!
Very thin coats of the spray paint, wait till it's dry, turn, thin spray, and repeat a number of times. If you try to rush it you WILL get drips running down.
This morning did a couple of final coats, just where the flowers were still showing slightly. When it was completely dry we put the shades on, cut off the plastic bags and masking tape, which were protecting the cables from the spray paint, and put them into position.
Hope you like them, we think they look lovely.
Funnily enough, the reflection of the shades, in the glass panels, is a much better representation of the shade colour, rather then the shade itself with the light shining through.
