pursued by a bean

When the new kitchen bits were put in they used the outside drain beside the back door, below the garden tap, which had never previously had any problems but which had never been particularly taxed. Possibly exacerbated by someone tipping mop buckets of plaster and grout dust down it but possibly just because it's narrow and maybe even because it's only a rainwater soakaway rather than a proper drain, it has been failing to cope with either a sinkful of water, a washing machine's drum'sworth or even a dishwashing. Fortunately, my suggestion to hijack the bathroom's bath and sink outflow whilst the bath and sink are absent was doable, with plenty of drop available even for the 7m journey from the floor under the sink to the point where the pipes exit through the bathroom wall.
