Reincarnation Part 1. Leitz Summicron 35mm V4

For the background, see here. This is the harpsichord tail, now closed off by a partition, and matching moldings attached.  I discovered that I still have a stash of extra moldings; how convenient.  The idea is that this portion of the case will be preserved more-or-less intact, as a little "monument" to the instrument.  The soundboard is removed, revealing the "knees" which hold up the case sides.  Originally, none of this structure was visible, so now that it is, there is some clean-up to do.  This includes scraping off the hide glue drips from when the soundboard was installed, scraping and sanding all the surfaces, and carving facets on the curved edges of the knees.  Ultimately, the bare wood will be painted a light color, and perhaps a small Greek statue will live inside, or an urn.  The outside of the case will probably be a very dark, midnight blue.  After the rather traumatic, destructive process of cutting a harpsichord into three sections, the creative part is much more exciting.  My Editor is now researching how she wants to paint and stencil the exterior into a new work of art!
