He's One In A Million...My Boyfriend...My Hero...

Harrison Spiers...for most of his life Harrison's doctors diagnosed him with Cerebral Palsy. We first met several years ago when Harrison and his friend Dominic decided to go to Germany for life altering stem cell treatments. Unknown, experimental and expensive...we banded together as a community and raised $21,000 for the trip. And most important became instant and lifelong friends.

Imagine living with...coping with...hoping for a cure and finding out 14ish years later that the diagnosis was wrong. Harrison actually has Lesch-Nyham Syndrome. It affects one in a million people. Some symptoms didn't show up until about a year ago. Harrison's observant and always looking to better her son's life Mother, payed attention and found them...then followed up with the Docs. Genetic testing revealed that Harrison's Mom is a carrier of the syndrome. And all his characteristics fit. While there isn't currently a cure...imagine the relief in finally being certain there is an accurate diagnosis.

"H" or Harrison is a typical teenager...moody, opinionated, Rockies Fan...and that is all good. His family is faithful and strong, his attitude is bright and optimistic. Harrison always will be my boyfriend...and my hero!
