New Years Eve

Day two on the Drake Passage - colder, windier, more swell & rolling.

Talks on explorers and wildlife we may see.

Then a drinks party to meet the Captain and crew - huge respect and admiration for the teams we don’t see … on the bridge, housekeeping, food preparation and service people, always smiling.

There’s 112 staff & crew (mostly Philippines) … away from home for months at a time.

And no matter how much the ship rolls & lurches, the food is excellent and well presented. Too much so (but am not complaining)!

Tonight is New Years Eve. Around 25 of us (mostly Brits & Europeans) stayed up for midnight to bring in 2023 with Auld Lang Syne. The sky was still bright. A good start to the year.
