Buller (Kawatiri) River

Argh, just typed a whole entry and then lost it.

This is an iconic Murchison scene for me.

Fortunately the rocks here have remained much the same, but I was astounded by how much the river has changed below them.  The Eel Hole (swimming hole) itself is not really there anymore.  It has been replaced by a sandy beach and small sandy spit - no more jumping off the rope here as its too shallow now.

Still, there were plenty enjoying jumping from the rocks, and plenty if swimmers enjoying the clear water.  It's just a lucky fluke that there are no swimmers in this shot.

Visits to spots like this make me realise just how much i miss living in this environment.  We also took a walk along the Matiri this morning.  So beautiful.

A photo in extras of the dogs enjoying the water.
