Life wanders and winds like an aging river
Forever twisting back on itself
Like it has forgotten where it is headed
And doesn’t care anymore
But then
Without warning
The skinny isthmus of bank crumbles
As the river remembers itself and the call of the ocean
Suddenly it can’t get there fast enough
The meandering bend is forgotten
Left behind
As an historic marker
I was here but am here no more
Here remains but the remains of a river
Nothing more than a dead end for the likes of a wandering swagman
But not for me
Flow life flow
Onward to the sea
