Icy in Lymington

Headed out early-ish Lymington train. (Ca. 1 hour, including a change in Brockenhurst).

Did the market. Checked out Stanwell’s Boutique Hotel. Just had a multi million pound refurbishment (very nice). The locals must be delighted it’s reopened. The bar/restaurant were packed. A few years ago spotted Michael Portillo there.

Usual stroll down to the Quay, past the seawater baths, and along the marina. Then back via a residential area to the station.

Then the trouble started. You have to change in Brockenhurst for the Bournemouth train (takes 15mns). Within minutes, an announcement of a delay due to a serious incident (someone wanting jump off the bridge) at Christchurch station. We were still waiting for the train to move 45mns later. The driver then announced delays could continue for the next few hours.

Frantic Googling & found a long winded route back home. Mad dash to bus for Lymington, (as trains stopped in both directions). Then roundabout slow X2 back to Bournemouth.

A ca. 1 hour journey, taking over 4 hours. Grrr. The bus was freezing on the top deck. Now home cold, tired, hungry and thirsty.

15,000 steps, 11km, close to personal best. My feet confirm that too :(

Update: Slept like a log, didn’t even hear Alexa wake me up.
