The Westwood Club.

My Grandparents were the stewards of this club in about 1935. They were there a long time. My mother grew up here. She had very fond memories of her and her sisters childhoods. The club is in Washington, it was Co Durham at that time but it is in Tyne and Wear now. The club opened in about 1910 and it is still going strong today.
There's an upstairs room that seats 220.
I also went to see the comedian Hal Cruttenden.  I loved the show and he was really funny. However some idiot started to heckle him saying tell us some jokes. He was drunk and Hal dealt with it expertly and politely and the man was escorted off the premises.  Hal even told him he could have his money back. I was ashamed to be from Sunderland. Although it was dealt with it was an unpleasant incident for Hal and the audience.
See extra.
