A Monumental Undertaking

Our heavy old hide-a-bed/couch had definitely seen better days. I've been wanting to get rid of it for months, maybe years, and today was the day! One of the stumbling blocks has always been that it would not fit through the door because the bookcase had been added after the original delivery. The family came over and made quick work of it, however. My son brought his magic saw and just cut it in half after unscrewing the bed part and removing it separately. Remember this household tip: you can always cut a sofa in half to get it out of the house! 

They also rolled up the rug so we could remove the crumbling old pad, and we vacuumed and scrubbed for a bit so everything looks much better. Another old couch acts as a placeholder until we can figure out how to rearrange everything to be more comfortable.
