Sunnybank

Well what a day we’ve had!

Had planned a shopping trip to Costco at North Lakes, so left quite early as we wanted to be home well in time for Jasmine and Andrew and family who were coming for dinner.

So off we went, sadly Ben didn’t join us. On the way there, I suggested that we should go to Sunnybank to see if anything was happening for Chinese new year tomorrow after church and Martin said we’re half way to Brisbane so let’s just go now. And by that stage we were all getting excited about the idea of having yum cha after aaaages! So off we went and found the mall where it was all happening!!!!

Walked in and the lion dancers were doing their thing. It was quite lovely to see and made me quite homesick for Hong Kong. CNY is the time that I miss HK the most, it seems.

We found a good restaurant that served all the usual dim sum, and we were just delighted. Noisy and rushed, just like restaurants in HK. Food was okay, nothing beats HK Chinese food. We were satisfied though and happy to have discovered the new Chinatown. Next time, we’ll check out the original Chinatown in Fortitude Valley.

It was also lovely to see restaurants with familiar food and also Chinese people again. We felt right at “home”. It took leaving the mall for us to realise that we were actually still in Australia!

Then off to Costco and first time ever for Martin! He was a bit overwhelmed. Needless to say we have enough supplies of necessities to last a while, well worth the trip.

Back home with just an hour to get ready for our visitors, not what we had planned, but we got it done! Teamwork makes the dream work … and thankfully Ben had done some stuff already.

Lovely evening with them, Zek is now 17 and Jax is 13!!!!!! Crazy how fast they’re growing.

I gave the kids lai see and they were just thrilled.

Extra shows to happy people enjoying yum cha!
