Changes Afoot

This lovely property, in Bonchurch, built in 1824, was home to the Victorian poet and raconteur, Algernon Charles Swinburn. He is buried at the church in the village. Latterly it was used as a residential education centre for schools and wedding receptions etc. the Pandemic forced its closure. A wealthy Londoner has purchased it and wants to renovate, destroy trees etc and build 16 ‘eco lodges’ (?) in the field (bottom picture). There are many objections to the planning application!!!
