Amaryllis

First flower on the amaryllis. I had hoped that it would be flowering for Christmas. It didn't happen, but when the flower bud eventually appears, it grows very rapidly. Although  commonly known as amaryllis, its correct name is Hippeastrum. This one is the variety "Apple Blossom".
