Gallowgate Tenement

A lot of old Glasgow tenements have impressive corners - usually a dome, but sometimes a turret or other ornamentation. This one on Gallowgate, an orphan tenement building with no others of the same era within 100 yards, always intrigued me. It has an open cupola over the corner, which I think is unique in the city. Wonder why?
