Knowe Terrace

As was the fashion in the old days, blocks on streets often had their own names. An old street sign on Shields Road refers to the quirky terrace between Albert Drive and Leslie Street as "Knowe Terrace". The name is presumably a reference to the Greek Thomson Villa across the road, or maybe just to the fact they both sit at the crest of the hill ("knowe" is an old Scottish word for a small hill).
