The day started well with beautiful sparkling frost on the plants and some trees glistened with silver.  We abandoned our original plans and wanted to see what the mountains looked like further north so decided to take the bus to Aviemore.  From then on the day became frustrating as, in spite of being at the bus stop 20 minutes before the bus was due it never turned up so we got the bus an hour later which meant a curtailment of our planned walk near Aviemore.  However we managed to walk beside little streams and through woods following the Strathspey Way and returned beside the Spey until the path seemed to disappear so we made our way back to the bus stop with plenty of time to spare.  We waited and waited getting even colder for over an hour and wondered why so much traffic and large trucks were travelling along the main street.  Apparently the junction of the link road to the bypass was blocked by a very bad multivehicle accident which had caused massive traffic jams causing the bus to be delayed.  We should have stuck to our original plan to walk among the hills near Pitlochry but we had been rewarded with lovely views from the top deck and far better than can be seen when driving a car.   The collage shows the river Spey and view towards the Cairngorms during our walk and the middle one was taken from the bus.
