Goodbye "Tone"

An overcast morning before the funeral of a dear friend, who had a heart attack in his sleep. Tony was a wonderful man, who helped everyone he came in contact with, a Rotarian, Freemason, gardener, family man, Spurs supporter, Estate agent and amazingly bad Mick Jagger impersonator (though only in his Kitchen).

Never have I seen such a funeral - a huge church, standing room only, with about 600 in attendance. His family wheeled his coffin in on a trolley (appropriately - he liked to work with the ground), and his dear wife started with a 10 minute eulogy about his life - how she kept it together I have no idea. He was raised by his grandparents as an only child, only to find later in life he had 7 half brothers and sisters. As his funeral ended, the Sun came out and streamed through the windows of the church.

Instead of a hearse, he left the church in the pick up truck from the allotments - so appropriate.

We saw him off in style with the most incredible wake - a special send off for a very special guy.

RIP Tony
