Morning Mountain Shadowland

This is an unusual sight caused by the sun coming up behind the mountains and clouds. I don’t yet fully understand it but it does make for huge shadows in the sky.

Josiane and I then skinned up one of the local touring tracks (extra under the forest frost) ending up picnicking just before reaching Bretaye which was heaving with skiers this weekend. We had only seen two other distant tourers on the way up.

For those who were searching yesterday’s blip for three rock partridges, the third one is in the bottom left corner on the rock, almost impossible to see. Thanks so much for your positive response to the photo.
