Out of scyn

A snowdrop and marigolds ( Calendulas) flowering in a sunny roadside spot. Despite snow and harsh winter weather the marigolds have survived from the summer. They are growing close to Peathill Kirk which featured in yesterday's Blip. During a 19th century cholera outbreak Reverand Walter Gregor, the then minister of Peathill preached 'sanitary sermons' advising his congregation to protect themselves by planting marigolds round their doors.
