Out for lunch

We went out for an anniversary lunch today - 30 years since our “first date.” We couldn’t go back to the original venue unfortunately - that was The Filmhouse, now sadly closed, with no immediate rescue in sight.

Instead, we went to The Tollhouse in Canonmills, a fairly new venture built on the site of the old public toilets! I hasten to point out that it bears no resemblance to public toilets now and is, in fact a fairly swanky restaurant, with a terrace below overlooking the river which looks just the place for cocktails in warmer weather.

We had a really lovely lunch in the restaurant upstairs - food and service highly recommended. It was all a bit posher than The Filmhouse, it has to be said!

The extras show the view from the terrace of the bridge at Canonmills and the other is the view from the bridge looking upstream.
