Life through the lens...

Soaked to the skin!

Must be mad!

This was about an hour into the walk.
Raining when we got up, then stopped a bit, but when we reached Kentmere was raining again.
Decided to go ahead with the walk in the hope it might clear up, but it didn't!

At the top of the first climb four of us decided we had had enough of the wind and rain, and it would be even worse the higher we got, so we turned back.

The rest of them carried on, including B our 85 year old lady.!

We eventually got back the the B&B where we had started and I was soaked to the skin. (had done about 5 miles in all)
It was too much for my waterproofs, which weren't!!

The lady at the B&B brought us tea and cakes, and we gradually warmed up and dried out a bit.
About 1/2 hour later B, and P turned up. They too couldn't face any more of the wind and rain, and had turned back.

Then by 4pm the sun came out and we had a walk round the village, to the church and castle farm. Oh how nice to feel warm!

5.30pm there was still no sign of the rest of the party, and so I got a lift back to where we had started at Staveley to meet up with MrC who had done a different , less strenuous walk, (Which they completed!)They did get wet, but not as bad as us. Should have gone with them!![/I

We arrived at The Game Cock Inn , Austwick, at about 6.30pm.
Had a wonderful soak in a hot bath, before going down for the meal.
French onion soup, followed by beef bourguignon, and a bottle of Cote du Rhone red wine.
Just what we needed!
